I am always looking for food that is outside of the box. When I first tried the PB&J Burger at Fat Burgers in Sneads Ferry, NC, I couldn't wait to put my own spin on it. The recipe is pretty simple and the outcome is delicious. I can hands down say that this is one of my all time favorite burgers and I hope you enjoy it as well.
For the Patty:
1 1/2 lbs ground Sirloin
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tbs soy sauce
Salt and Pepper to taste
For the Caramelized Onions:
1/2 tbs butter
3 onions sliced into 1/4 inch rings
1 tbs salt
2-3 tbs sriracha
8 slices of thick bacon, cooked
Smooth Peanut Butter
4 Hamburger Buns
Combine all ingredients for the patty in a large bowl. Form into 4 patties, pressing the center in leaving the outer edges of the patties fuller. Season the patties with kosher salt and pepper for a perfect burger. Let set while caramelizing onions and preheating grill.
In a medium skillet, melt butter over low/med heat. Add onions and salt, then cook for 20-25 minutes until onions are a golden brown. Remove from heat and add Sriracha.
Grill Patties over direct heat for 5-7 minutes on each side for medium. Remove and let rest while preparing bun.
Toast bun in oven or on the grill. Once toasted, spread peanut butter on the bottom bun and grape jelly on the top bun. Place patty on bottom bun and top with bacon, caramelized onions and top bun.
